Question 1

What is the FEED Africa programme?

Accepted Answer

FEED stands for the Farmer Eco-Enterprise Development Programme which launched in 2011 and evolved in 2015 to focus on enterprise and supplier development. It builds emerging farmer business skills and integrates these farmers into formal supply chains.

Question 2

What does a resilience-orientated intervention framework mean in a food security project context?

Accepted Answer

A resilience-orientated framework acknowledges that social and ecological systems are deeply interconnected. This means our food security projects focus on long-term sustainability by empowering local communities as active agents of change rather than passive recipients.

Question 3

How does environmental sustainability factor into your food security interventions?

Accepted Answer

We operate under a philosophy of "Planetary & People Care" meaning every food security intervention is viewed through a lens of holistic and global sustainability. We employ agro-ecological farming methods and focus on social-ecological resilience.

Question 4

How do you ensure cultural integration in your food security projects?

Accepted Answer

We see social and ecological systems as inextricably linked meaning that respecting and embedding community values is a fundamental prerequisite to any successful food security project. Our frameworks allow facilitators to adapt materials to local cultural contexts.

Question 5

How do you balance programme standards with the unique needs of different communities?

Accepted Answer

Our established methodologies use a dynamic framework that ensures core quality standards are met while allowing for extensive on-the-ground flexibility. Fieldworkers utilise modular and competency-based training to tailor education delivery.

Question 6

What is the core focus of your food security interventions?

Accepted Answer

Education and skills-centric development are at the heart of all our food security projects. We prioritise the transfer of both soft and technical agricultural skills to ensure communities can thrive autonomously.
